Meet Brandon
Hello, I’m Brandon Joseph. I am currently an undergraduate student at Grand Canyon University, my course work is in Christian Studies with an emphasis on Philosophy. My desire is simple: to offer help for those who walk faithfully with Christ by sharing reflections that are both biblical and practical.
My journey in the Christian faith has not been a straight path, it has been marked by hardship, struggle, and God’s unrelenting grace.
As a young boy, I grew up in a broken home. My parents divorced, and we lived in poverty. My first exposure to Christianity came from televangelists and a handful of Scripture sayings from my mother. My father, who struggled with alcoholism, eventually deserted us. My mother also battled addiction, and though we began attending different churches over time, I was left confused by the wide variety of Christian traditions and teachings.
As a teenager, I wrestled deeply with the world and my faith. There were seasons of rebellion and selfish living, followed by moments of repentance and return to Christ. The tug-of-war within me was real, and yet even in my wandering the Lord was drawing me closer.
In search of purpose, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Though my time of service was brief, it shaped me profoundly. The people I met and the experiences I had drew me nearer to Christ, and I would not trade those insights for anything.
After the Marine Corps, I married my best friend and confidant Madison. Our first year of marriage was tested when she contracted flesh-eating bacteria from contaminated river water. She came close to death, yet by the grace of God, she was healed. That miracle still leaves me in awe, and it reminds me daily of the power and mercy of our God.
Today, Madison and I are raising two girls, Parker and Nora. Our home is often full of energy and chaos (The joyful kind!), but above all, it is full of God’s blessings. Children truly are a gift from the Lord.
My calling is to share the hope I found in Christ with others, just as others shared with me. Having been exposed to many different Christian traditions, I believe it is vital to seek ecumenical unity within the body of Christ. We may not always agree on every doctrinal detail, but we are united in the Gospel. My heart is to help others see the light of Christ more clearly, to grow in their faith, and to walk together as one family in Him.
This is why I created The Lighthouse Keeper’s Journal, a place where theology is made simple, Scripture is brought to life, and faith is lived out with wisdom, clarity, and hope.
More About Me
Outside of writing and studying, I engage in Strongman and Powerlifting athletics. I earned first place at the Indiana State Championship for USAPL in the 140 kg weight class. I also enjoy reading, video games, and savoring the crisp beauty of autumn.
